International Law Firm Adds Special Counsel, Initially Based In Hong Kong

This publication reports on the latest moves in the Asia-Pacific wealth management market.

Withers, the law firm, has appointed Lynette Ramoutar as a special counsel. She will initially be based in its Hong Kong office and later transfer to the British Virgin Islands office.

Ramoutar has experience of working in financial regulation roles across the Caribbean, most recently as deputy director for six years (and acting director) of the BVI Financial Services Commission's legal and enforcement division.

She is qualified to practice in the BVI, England and Wales and Trinidad and Tobago and has worked in regulatory and investigatory roles both in state agencies and financial institutions in the Caribbean and Canada.

Her hire by Withers follows the hire of Harvey Knight, who joined the firm's London office in 2011 from the Financial Services Authority (as the UK regulator used to be called), where he worked as the lead authorisation and approvals lawyer.
