The deVere Group has opened its first office in New Zealand, adding to its presence in Southeast Asia.

Independent financial advisor group deVere Group, which operates in a number of locations worldwide, is to open its first offices in New Zealand next year, it has confirmed.

The facilities are located in Auckland, following the opening a year ago of a second Australian office in Sydney. The New Zealand operation wil be led by John Brophy, divisional manager of the ASEAN and Australia regioins, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

As part of the process, deVere Group will internally promote some of the company's managers from across the globe to take on roles in the country, as well hiring from wealth management firms. It did not give specific figures.

“Our push into New Zealand is driven by consistently increasing demand for our specialist cross-border financial advice from expats and international investors in this region," deVere Group founder and chief executive, said.

“By adding New Zealand to our network of global offices, which includes Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai, London, Cape Town, and New York, to name a few, we are now truly a 24-hour organisation.  There will always be a deVere office open somewhere in the world," Green added.
