Hywin Wealth Wins Two Key Honours At WealthBriefingAsia Greater China Awards 2021

The firm won Best Wealth Manager of Greater China 2021, the first time an independent wealth manager has won this particular honour from this news service. Also, Hywin's chief executive scooped the award for best CEO in Greater China Wealth Management this year.
Hywin Wealth, a major wealth management institution based in China, captured two key honours at this year’s WealthBriefingAsia Greater China Awards, including the award for Best Wealth Manager of Greater China 2021.
This marks the first time that an independent wealth manager has won the award, and comes on the heels of the company’s successful public listing on 26 March 2021 (NASDAQ: HYW).
Additionally, Hywin’s CEO Madame Wang Dian won the award for Best CEO in Greater China Wealth Management 2021.
In naming Hywin the Best Wealth Manager of Greater China 2021, the judges recognised the company’s leading industry position as a top independent wealth manager in Greater China, and its strong competitive advantages.
“Hywin’s extensive network coverage, growing and loyal client base, diverse product offerings, and high quality advisory make it well-positioned to thrive in Greater China’s growing independent wealth management industry,” the judges said. “Hywin is expanding abroad to meet its clients’ demands for sophisticated offshore products and services. This mirrors the increasingly important role that Chinese HNW individuals are playing in the global wealth management industry, a trend that we think will only continue to grow.”
Founded in Shanghai in 2006, Hywin today operates across 167 business locations throughout the Greater China region, employing a 1,700-strong relationship manager team. Its primary businesses are wealth management, asset management, and insurance brokerage services. According to market research group CIC, Hywin is the third-largest independent wealth manager in China, when measured by client transaction value.
The company has built up its Hong Kong subsidiary as a base for its international business, and has also indicated plans to expand in other financial centres such as New York, London, and Singapore. Hywin has also partnered with Liechtenstein-based VP Bank AG to provide its clients with external asset manager (EAM) services across global booking centres.
The selection of Madame Wang as Best CEO in Greater China Wealth Management 2021 recognised her role in transforming Hywin. Under her leadership, Hywin successfully evolved from a private company to a public one. On March 26, Hywin raised $30 million in gross proceeds in a public listing on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The company intends to use the funds to build out its wealth management and asset management businesses, as well as make the company smarter by using technology to improve intelligence and efficiency in its operations. Madame Wang has also overseen the company’s international expansion, from serving China-based clients, to creating value for global stakeholders.
In addition, Madame Wang stands out as one of the leading female players in the wealth management industry in China. A passionate advocate for gender equity in the industry, she believes that female HNWIs - specifically entrepreneurs - are playing an increasingly large role in China’s wealth management industry.
“Women entrepreneurs are well placed to thrive in Asia’s commercial world,” Madame Wang said. “The symbiosis between business and community, the importance of bringing everyone onboard, the criticality of details, and the open mind to hear different views before forming one’s own - these attributes underlie many of the entrepreneurial success stories in Asia,” she said.
At last year’s WealthBriefingAsia Greater China Awards 2020, Hywin Wealth won the award for “Best Wealth Manager of Greater China Families,” which reflected the company’s expertise in serving UHNW families across their lifecycles. Additionally, last year Madame Wang Dian won the award of “Woman of the Year in Greater China Wealth Management,” which recognised her as a shining star in the industry and a tireless champion of women’s progresses in finance and commerce.
