HSBC Global Private Banking Names Regional Head Of Investment Counsellors, Asia Pacific

The new hire has demonstrated a strong ability to improve performance and produce solid results.

HSBC Global Private Banking (HSBC GPB) has appointed Edmund Lo as regional head of investment counsellors (IC), Asia Pacific, with immediate effect.

In his new capacity, Lo (pictured) will lead the IC team across Asia Pacific, working alongside market and product specialists from Wealth and Premier Solutions, as well as using the bank’s wealth analytics tool HSBC Prism Advisory powered by Aladdin Wealth™, to deliver investment advice and tailored solutions to ensure that clients are well positioned in evolving market conditions.

Based in Hong Kong, Lo will report to Lok Yim, regional head of HSBC GPB, Asia Pacific. Lo, who has served in the role ad interim, has been played a key role in improving the team’s performance across the IC teams in Asia, the firm said in a statement. His leadership has contributed to sustained growth in investment revenues and annuities flow for HSBC’s private banking business in the region over the past year, the firm added.

Since joining HSBC in 2011, Lo has held various leadership positions, including head of offshore China corporate treasury sales in Global Markets. Since joining HSBC GPB in 2017 as senior IC and later as team head in Hong Kong, he has demonstrated a strong ability to improve performance and produce solid results, the firm continued.

Lo has more than 24 years of experience in the banking industry, with a knowledge in investment products, corporate treasury sales and investment counselling. Prior to joining HSBC, he served in senior corporate sales roles at other prominent banks.

“Edmund’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to strengthening our investment capabilities, which are a core pillar of our success,” Yim said. “In a fast-changing market, we need strong leaders who can anticipate trends, drive innovation and deliver tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. I am confident that Edmund brings the right experience and vision to support our growth and position HSBC as the leading private bank in Asia.”
