HSBC AM Appoints CIO Thematic Equities

The latest moves and appointments at HSBC Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group.

HSBC Asset Management has appointed Pierin Menzli as CIO of Thematic Equities, based in Switzerland.

Menzli joined in September, reporting to Vis Nayar, global CIO of equities, the firm said in a statement.

In this newly-created role, Menzli and his team will contribute to the overall enhancement of the current investment platform. He is also responsible for overseeing specialist thematic equity teams in charge of developing and managing new thematic investment solutions.

Menzli, who brings over 20 years of asset management experience, is joining from Bank J. Safra Sarasin where he was head of thematic equities. During his time there, Menzli led and developed the firm’s thematic equity franchise in the technology, health, consumer and environmental fields. He has also served on the board of Swiss Sustainable Finance for the last six years, the firm said.

Welcoming the move, Nayar said: “His extensive experience and expertise in sustainability and thematic investing will be valuable to our growth, especially in the fast-growing segment of thematic equities.”

Menzli added: “I look forward to working with the team to contribute to its current thematic investment offerings, as well as driving forward products and services to deliver enhanced offerings to our clients.”

HSBC Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, invests on behalf of HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions.
