Friends Provident International Names New MD For Hong Kong

This publication brings latest news of moves and appointments in the Asia-Pacific wealth management industry.
Friends Provident International, part of UK-based Aviva group, has appointed Charles Barrows as managing director of FPI Hong Kong. He takes over the helm from James Tan, who has stepped down to pursue other interests.
Barrows reports to Adrian Emery, chief executive of the business, FPI said in a statement last week. Barrows has been with Aviva for more than 20 years. He most recently held the role of CEO of Aviva Hong Kong, and was previously chief financial officer of Aviva Asia. Prior to that, he was director of investor relations at Aviva for eight years, based in London.
“In our new structure, each FPI branch including Hong Kong, Singapore and United Arab Emirates will take greater responsibility for expanding its customer service, and product and marketing capabilities with governance and oversight being managed centrally across FPI,” Emery said, adding that he thanked Tan for his work since taking on the role in 2012.
Friends Provident International provides life assurance and investment products in Asia, the Middle East and other selected markets; it has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the Isle of Man.
