On the day that its UK parent firm announced a deal to be taken over by a rival, Friends Provident International announced it is adding five new investment funds to its range, aiming these at high net worth clients.
The new funds provide investors with exposure to global, Asian, US and emerging market equities as well as mixed asset options. The funds are called BlackRock Asian Dragon Fund; Fidelity America Fund; Jupiter Merlin International Equities Portfolio Fund, Schroder Frontier Markets Equity Fund and Schroder Global Multi-Asset Income Fund.
(The Schroder Global Multi-Asset Income Fund will be available in mid Dec 2014.)
The announcement came as UK-listed Aviva and Friends Life, FPI’s parent firm, said they have agreed for the former firm to buy Friends Life in an all-share deal valued at £5.6 billion ($8.79 billion), making it one of the largest insurance marriages in recent UK history.
FPI, meanwhile, has gone through a strategic review over the last 18 months. Among its goals are focusing on the increasing numbers of affluent and high net wroth individuals across core markets in Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai.
