Former UBS Client Charged In US With Filing False Tax Return On Offshore Account

Former UBS client Paul Zabczuk has been charged by US prosecutors with filing a false tax return in 2004 that failed to report income he earned on his Swiss bank account, according to Bloomberg.
The resident of The Woodlands, Texas, was charged in federal court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Zabczuk has entered a plea agreement with prosecutors and is scheduled to change his plea on 13 April, court records show, the report said.
A number of taxpayers have been charged by US authorities with offshore tax evasion. In 2009, six US citizens pleaded guilty to failing to disclose accounts at Zurich-based UBS.
The news report said that Zabczuk and his attorney, Scott Frewing, did not respond to requests for comment.
The case is USA v. Zabczuk, 10-cr-60112, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida (Fort Lauderdale), the report added.
