Andrew Gallacher was appointed head of advisory at EY for the insurance industry in Switzerland earlier this month.

Andrew Gallacher was appointed head of advisory at EY for the insurance industry in Switzerland earlier this month, the firm announced yesterday.

He reports to Thomas Brotzer, who manages the whole of EY’s insurance business in Switzerland, covering both consulting and auditing. In his new role with EY, Gallacher will focus on advising insurance companies on how to transform their processes and business models and the impact these changes will have particularly on such quantitative aspects of their businesses as capital and profit margins.

"He is coming on board at precisely the right time. Faced with an ever-more complex market environment and ever tighter regulations when it comes to the area of capital, insurance companies are being compelled to rethink their business models. EY is driving ahead in developing its long-term strategic consultancy skills in the financial industry in order to meet the challenges posed by these changes," said Marcel Stalder, head of EY financial services in Switzerland.

A spokesperson for EY said Gallacher will cover the full range of insurance firms, including the life insurance sector that includes wealth management activity.
