Digital Digest: The Latest Tech News - DBS, The Chinese University Of Hong Kong

The latest news about technology products and services relevant for wealth managers around the world.

Singapore-listed DBS is helping to build a science training programme alongside The Chinese University of Hong Kong, focusing on areas such as machine learning, Big Data analytics and AI - hot topics in wealth management and other financial fields.

DBS Hong Kong and CUHK have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a Master of Science in Financial Technology programme (MScFinTech) offering.

The MoU was signed by Professor Martin D F Wong, dean of Engineering, CUHK, and Ms Brit Blakeney, head of Innovation & Ecosystems, DBS Hong Kong.

The pact highlights how banks are pushing to win a slice of growing fintech innovation in areas considered as vital for banking and finance in the future. A few years ago, this publication noted the trend of banks operating either on their own or in consortiums to build “innovation labs”, while jurisdictions around the world have entered innovation-sharing agreements.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong launched a fintech undergraduate programme in the 2017/18 academic year. Both this and the new Master of Science in fintech programmes are supported by the banking industry and financial bodies, the university said in a statement yesterday.
