Deutsche Bank Acquires Investment Licence In Malta

Deutsche Bank Malta has been issued a Category 4 Investment Services licence by the Malta Financial Services Authority which will allow the firm to provide custody and trustee services for collective investment schemes.
While Deutsche Bank is already licensed as a credit institution in Malta, the new licence will allow the bank to provide asset safe-keeping and monitoring services in relation to transferable securities, units in collective investment schemes, money market instruments and financial derivatives.
The availability of such custody services is key to the future development of Malta’s financial services sector, said the MFSA in a statement.
The new licence is said to show Malta’s continued efforts to meet the increasing demand for services from its increasing community of UCITS and hedge fund managers. In light of stricter regulatory structures and competition the MFSA is looking to make Malta more attractive as an EU fund servicing location.
