DBS Appoints New Singapore Consumer Banking Head
The newly appointed figure – who takes up the role next year – has worked in areas including wealth management.
DBS Bank has appointed Calvin Ong as head of its consumer banking business in Singapore, taking effect 1 January 2025. He will succeed Jeremy Soo, who will be retiring from executive duties at the end of the year but will be staying on as an advisor.
Ong is head of investment products and advisory in the lender’s consumer banking and wealth management group (CBG/WM).
A graduate of Oxford and Harvard universities, Ong joined DBS as a management associate in 2007. Since then, he has had several rotations across the bank, including private equity, group planning, treasury and markets and corporate treasury.
In his new role, Ong will oversee consumer banking and wealth management platforms to enhance the way the bank meets customers’ banking, payment, investing and financial planning needs across all digital and physical touchpoints.
Ong’s predecessor joined DBS in 2003. Song was head of Singapore consumer banking for the last 17 years.
