Credit Suisse Brings Back Stoehr In Asia-Pacific Financing Role

The Swiss bank has welcomed back a familiar face to lead financing in the Asia-Pacific region.

Credit Suisse has re-hired Carsten Stoehr from Standard Chartered as managing director, head of financing, Asia Pacific, this publication has learned.

Stoehr re-joins the bank from Standard Chartered, where he was most recently global head of financial market sales. He formerly held senior leadership roles at Credit Suisse in fixed income and debt capital markets in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. In the newly-created role, Stoehr will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to Helman Sitohang, Credit Suisse's Asia-Pacific chief executive.

Under Stoehr's leadership, the bank will bring together exisitng capabilities in emerging markets financing, equity share-backed lending, corporate banking and private banking structured lending. The combined team will aim to provide a centralised structuring, risk management and syndication platform for strategic financing to ultra-high net worth entrepreneur and corporate clients. It will also support execution on UHNW entrepreneur clients’ co-investment opportunities that fall outside the bank's market trading activities.

The appointment reflects Credit Suisse's focus on financing for UHNW clients as a key growth initiative for its private banking business in Asia-Pacific.

Last year, the Zurich-headquartered restructured operations to create three new, regionally focused divisions – Switzerland, Asia Pacific and International Wealth Management – and two global divisions – Global Markets and Investment Banking & Capital Markets.
