Credit Suisse Adds To Asia-Pacific Investment Strategy Team

The Swiss bank has brought in a pair of experienced investment strategists, working from its Singapore base.

Credit Suisse has appointed a pair of investment professionals in its Asia region.

The appointees are Eddy Loh, named as senior investment strategist, and Julian Wee, investment strategist. Both men are based in Singapore and report to John Woods, chief investment officer, Asia-Pacific, Credit Suisse.

Loh brings 14 years of investment management experience. He is responsible for developing regional discretionary and advisory investment strategies across multi-asset classes for private and institutional clients in Asia-Pacific. He joined Credit Suisse in December 2017 from Bank of Singapore where he was an executive director and a member of the investment counselling team.

Before that, Loh served as a director at Barclays and chaired the Asia investment committee on asset allocation and investment strategy for the wealth management business. Prior to Barclays, Loh held equity research positions in Citigroup, Merrill Lynch and DBS covering a number of sectors including energy, industrials and consumer.

Wee has over 15 years’ experience in macro research and strategy for Asian economies. He supports the team with coverage of the implications of macroeconomic and policy developments on foreign exchange and other Asian markets.

Prior to joining Credit Suisse in January 2018, Wee covered Asian currencies for the National Australia Bank. Before that, Julian provided Asia coverage and participated in the asset allocation process at BSI Bank, supporting the head office with in-depth coverage of Asia’s economics and politics as well as portfolio strategy. Before joining the banking industry, Wee spent a total of eight years at the independent research house IDEAglobal, covering the macroeconomics and politics of Asia ex-Japan economies and a year at Dow Jones Newswires producing expert commentary on Asia ex-Japan FX markets.
