Coutts Hong Kong Stalwart Resigns After 20 Years

The renowned Ignatius - or Iggy - Chong has resigned from Coutts after serving more than twenty years at the private bank.

The renowned Ignatius - or Iggy - Chong has resigned from Coutts after serving twenty years at the private bank.

He steps down from his role as chairman of Coutts Institute Asia. Over the course of his career he climbed to the very top having been head of Hong Kong for the bank and also the interim head of North Asia in 2012, Coutts confirmed.

He joined the firm in 1994 as a vice president and junior private banker.

But there are no signs that the firm is slowing down in North Asia. At the start of this year the firm hired three private bankers and created a new private banking team in Hong Kong.

In May Coutts appointed former JP Morgan wealth management senior executive Shun-Tak Pang as its head of the Hong Kong market. He took over the role from Chong.
