Citibank has filed lawsuits against two former employees in Singapore who it said copied confidential client information before they moved to UBS, according to reports in the local press.

According to documents filed at Singapore's High Court, Citibank claim that one of the employees, Jonathan Seah, a branch manager whose clients included high net worth individuals, had sent confidential information to his personal email address. The emails included details about customers and their investments, an organisational chart of the bank and personal appraisals of at least seven employees.

"The majority of the emails were sent a day before, on the day of and the day immediately after resignation," Citibank said in an affidavit to the court. The bank also said that the emails had breached the employee’s contract.

Citibank has asked for Mr Seah to surrender all information obtained "as there is a real threat that he has either already used and forwarded such information, and/or will do so soon to either impress or prove his value to his new employer," according to the court documents.
