Citibank Recruits Former HSBC

Citibank has appointed Virginia Luk as head of insurance; she is a former global head of wealth insurance in Asia at HSBC.

Citibank has appointed Virginia Luk as head of insurance, giving her overall responsibility for this business in Hong Kong, an area that includes the wealth planning space.

She has more than 20 years of experience in insurance, and, in particular, a track record in the bancassurance business of global banks, the US-listed banking firm said in a statement. She previously worked at HSBC, where she was most recently global head of Wealth Insurance (East).

Luk started her career in Hong Kong with HSBC before joining Canada Life in Canada. She moved back to Hong Kong in the mid-1990s and has worked for a number of major banks since then, including Citibank, HSBC and Standard Chartered.

She will play a key role in the implementation of our strategic bancassurance partnership with AIA, bringing our clients a portfolio of world-class insurance products and services that are tailored to their protection and wealth planning needs,” Christine Lam, country business manager, Citibank Global Consumer Banking, said.
