Citi Names New Consumer Banking Chief For Asia-Pacific

The banking group has announced a change of leadership for its consumer banking arm in Asia-Pacific, a segment which includes wealth management.
Citi has appointed Anand Selvakesari as head of consumer banking for Asia-Pacific, a role covering the wealth management sector (excluding the private bank, which caters to ultra high net worth clients).
During his 23-year Citi career, Selvakesari has led Citi’s consumer bank in China and India and was most recently Southeast Asia cluster head for consumer banking.
“Anand has a deep knowledge of consumer banking across the region. As head of the Southeast Asia cluster, Anand built further on our success in ASEAN and India. In previous roles he was instrumental in building market leading positions in cards, wealth management and digital in India and expanding the consumer business in China - more than tripling our branch network in China and launching a full range of products and services including sole branded credit cards,” Stephen Bird, Citi’s chief executive for consumer banking, said in a statement.
The appointment is effective from 1 July. Selvakesari takes over from Jonathan Larsen, who is now focusing on his role as global retail banking and mortgage head with additional responsibilities for the US retail banking and mortgage market.
Selvakesari began his career in India in 1991, and has more than
23 years of experience in consumer and commercial banking.
