Charles Stanley Appoints Chief Global Economist

The UK wealth manager has appointed a familiar face to lead its global economic research.
London-headquartered Charles Stanley has appointed Jeremy Batstone-Carr to the newly-created role of chief global economist.
Batstone-Carr joined the firm 12 years ago and most recently served as chief economist, overseeing global asset allocation and investment strategy. In this position, he also led a team of analysts focusing on a range of UK-listed companies, investment trusts and investment vehicles. Batstone-Carr has 30 years' industry experience.
In his new London-based role, he will work with John Redwood, the firm’s chief global strategist, to give thematic regional and sectoral analyses and viewpoints.
“Jeremy has established a reputation for thoughtful and thought‐provoking research. He has done an excellent job in terms of economic reporting and commentary and this is an appropriate point for him to step up the intensity and global perspective of the firm’s economics research,” said Christopher Aldous, head of asset management at Charles Stanley.
In its recent trading update, Charles Stanley reported its funds under management had fallen by £300 million ($429 million) to £20.8 billion over 2015 amid “challenging” trading conditions. In January, the firm appointed Jonathan Cunliffe as interim chief investment officer following the departure of former CIO Paul Abberley.
