Brown Shipley Names New Chief Risk Officer
Brown Shipley, a Quintet Private Bank, makes senior hire with more than 15 years' experience in the sector and "extensive and deep knowledge of risk management."
UK wealth manager Brown Shipley has appointed Helen Whelan (pictured) as its new chief risk officer, subject to regulatory approval.
Whelan will be responsible for strengthening risk management practices and controls at Brown Shipley, the firm said in a statement.
She started her new role this week, succeeding Fiona Woodhouse. Whelan brings more than 15 years’ experience at LGT Wealth Management, where she most recently served as head of risk and member of the management board, the firm added.
Based in London, Whelan will serve as a member of the Brown Shipley executive committee, reporting to CEO Calum Brewster, and as a member of Quintet’s group risk leadership team, reporting to Christine Lynch, Quintet’s group chief risk officer.
“Drawing on her extensive experience and deep knowledge of risk management, she will build upon the progress we have already made in strengthening our risk culture,” Brewster said.
Brown Shipley, with a heritage dating back to 1810, has offices
in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, Edinburgh,
Norwich and Nottingham.
