Bermuda's Clarien Pushes Private Banking Forward With New Head

Bermuda-based Clarien Bank has appointed its inaugural head of private banking to lead the specialized business efforts of the department.
Bermuda-headquartered Clarien Bank has appointed its inaugural head of private banking to lead the specialized business efforts of the department.
Clare Spearing will take up the role on January 12 next year and will provide overall strategic direction for the division, the firm said today.
Prior to Spearing’s appointment, Clarien’s private banking division was led by Paul Finn, head of global wealth management at the firm, under the umbrella of the firm’s wealth management offering. Henceforth, Spearing will be directly responsible for the private banking division on a standalone basis. She will report to Finn, who will continue to oversee Clarien's entire global wealth management division.
In this new role, she will strengthen Clarien’s international offering of products and services whilst also providing investment advice for its local Bermudan banking clients.
She moves from the Bermuda Business Development Agency, where she served as head of operations.
As part of a ten-year career focused on the island, Spearing spent two years as vice president, senior relationship manager of HSBC Bank Bermuda’s commercial banking unit. Prior to this she worked in Butterfield’s corporate bank for seven years in roles including assistant vice president of relationship management and sales.
“Miss Spearing brings over a decade of Bermudian banking experience, and holds strong relationships with not only local and international clients but many important key organizations across the island. At Clarien, while we have international ambitions, we remain firmly committed to the island of Bermuda and the talent we have here,” Ian Truran, chief executive of Clarien Bank, said.
Clarien Bank was launched in April following a merger of its parent Clarien Group with Capital G Bank.
