Banque Degroof Opens In Hong Kong, Hires Chief

Banque Degroof Luxembourg, the Belgian private bank, has opened a Hong Kong representative office and appointed Cecilia
Chin as its chief representative and general manager, becoming the latest
wealth manager to set up a presence in the fast-growth region.

“Asia is paving the way in
creation of affluence and sophisticated investors, leading to increasing growth
in savings and investments’, said Geert de Bruyne, managing director of
Banque
Degroof Luxembourg
, in a statement.

“Having crystallized business
opportunities over recent years, it was also timely to establish an office in
Hong Kong to develop closer ties with industry practitioners and clients, and
lead business development efforts in Asia,” added Geert.

Before joining Banque Degroof,
Chin headed sales and investor relations at SAIL Advisors, a fund of hedge
funds group. Prior to that she held senior management positions in business
development and client relationship at State Street Global Advisors and State
Street Bank.

Chin has over 20 years of
experience in the financial industry and building businesses across Asia. She
will oversee the activities for Banque Degroof Luxembourg in Asia and focus on
the firm’s strategy and development of the fund administration and custody
services for Luxembourg investment funds.

Banque Degroof Luxembourg is
part of Banque Degroof, one of Belgium’s largest independently-held private and
investment banks.
