BNY Mellon Wealth Management Adds To Mid-Atlantic Mortgage Banking Team

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has hired David Duffy as a sales director within the mortgage banking group.

Duffy is charged with growing the firm’s residential mortgage business across the Mid-Atlantic region, focused primarily on the Washington and Philadelphia, PA, markets. He reports to Erin Gorman, managing director for national mortgage sales and private banking in the Northeast.

Duffy has over 23 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry, having previously served as a mortgage sales consultant for about two years with PHH Mortgage/UBS Mortgage Banking.

BNY Mellon said the new hire represents how it is looking to expand its presence in the Mid-Atlantic region. A year ago, for example, it opened a new office in downtown Washington and has “gradually added staff,” it said.

Meanwhile, last week the New York-listed firm took on Christopher Hohlstein as regional president for Georgia, based at its growing Atlanta office. It is also eyeing growth in California, having just last month appointed San Franciso-based Tracy Tuens to the newly-created role of senior sales director within its family office and advisor solutions group. Tuens is responsible for business development and client retention for the western regional family office and UHNW market.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has nearly $178 billion in private client assets, as at end-September 2012.
