BNY Mellon WM Hires New CEO

The new CEO will join the firm on July 9 from Commonfund, a non-profit, global asset manager.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has appointed Catherine Keating as chief executive and member of the group’s executive committee, to take effect from July 9.

She replaces Don Heberle, the former CEO of BNY Mellon Wealth Management, who left the firm at the end of March to join PNC Wealth Management, as reported by this news service.

Keating will report to BNY Mellon Investment Management CEO, Mitchell Harris. She will also join the investment management's leadership team and be based in New York, the bank stated.

In her new role, Keating will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of BNY Mellon's Wealth Management business, which includes the ongoing expansion of a range of capabilities for clients in the new wealth market, and investing in client segments and digital capabilities.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon WM, Keating served as president and CEO of Commonfund, a non-profit, global asset manager serving endowments, foundations and public sector investors.

Previously, Keating had nearly two decades of experience at JPMorgan, including roles as head of investment management Americas, CEO of the US private bank, global head of fiduciary and wealth advisory services, and president of JP Morgan Trust Company of Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region.

"Catherine is a seasoned CEO with a strong track record in leading wealth management and asset management organizations," said Harris. "Throughout her career, she has demonstrated the leadership skills that we're confident will make themselves immediately and deeply felt by our staff and clients. I look forward to partnering with her to advance the growth of our wealth management offering and capabilities for clients."
