BNY Mellon Asset Servicing Appoints New Asia-Pacific Head

BNY Mellon, the global asset management firm, has appointed a new asset servicing head for Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore.
Michael Chan assumes his new role after serving as managing director and head of sales and business development for the firm's asset servicing arm in Asia. He joined the firm in 2007 as chief operating officer for Asia asset servicing. Before that, he spent 13 years at State Street and held several senior roles spanning from operations to business development in North America and Asia.
For this position, he reports to Samir Pandiri, the CEO of asset servicing who is based in the US. Chan remains on the company's Asia-Pacific operating committee and joins the Asia-Pacific executive committee, which is chaired by Steve Lackey, chairman for Asia-Pacific.
The previous head of the asset servicing business, Chong Jin Leow, left the company in March. The reasons for his departure are not known.
BNY Mellon has $1.4 trillion in assets under management and $26.3 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration as of 31 March 2013.
