BNP Wealth Makes Senior Hire In Hong Kong

BNP Paribas Wealth Management has made a top-ranking appointment in Hong Kong.

BNP Paribas Wealth Management, part of the France-listed banking giant, has hired Samuel Chee as managing director at its Hong Kong office.

He had previously worked at Switzerland'sJulius Baer – where he had also been a director - for five years and before that Crosby wealth management.

BNP Paribas also hired Erina So, a former Citi private banker, as a senior relationship manager recently.

Among other recent moves, BNP said its BNP Paribas Investment Partners in September appointed two new chief executives to its Hong Kong and Japan offices. Tino Moorrees took the reins as the company’s Hong Kong chief executive, while Ryohei Shimazaki took the top job at  BNPP IP Japan.

In early August, the bank saw management changes in Singapore at its wealth management arm, as this publication exclusively reported at the time.Kimmis Pun joined as managing director and team head, responsible for building the China business for BNP Paribas in Singapore. Ken Wong, a senior private banker in Singapore, stepped down; he worked in the key client group, focusing on ultra high net worth markets and is a BNP Paribas veteran.

The wealth management and private banking business logged a 2.5 per cent rise in assets under management to €905 billion ($1.1 billion) at 30 September from 30 June this year, the French banking group said last month.
