BNP Paribas Wealth Adds Seven For China Expansion

BNP Paribas Wealth Management has hired seven senior private bankers for its China and Hong Kong teams - most of whom are Credit Suisse alumni - for its ongoing expansion in the region. 

Ivan Ching joined BNP Paribas Wealth Management in April as managing director, China Market, based in Hong Kong. He reports to newly-hired Alfred Tsai, head of China Market, who recently joined from Julius Baer.

Ching joined from Credit Suisse where he was director and spent seven years focusing on ultra high net worth clients.  Prior to that, he worked for UBS.

Alex Xu joined in May as managing director, China Market, also based in Hong Kong reporting to Tsai. He was most recently with Guosen Securities as managing director, corporate finance. Prior to that he worked for Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, UBS and DBS Private Bank.

Maggie Zhang also started in May as director, China Market, based in Hong Kong. She was most recently with UBS as director for UHNW China Market, and prior to that she worked for Credit Suisse.

Mandy Koo joined  in April as vice president, China Market, based in Hong Kong, reporting to Ching. Most recently she was with Credit Suisse servicing China clients.

Meanwhile Louisa Yau and Wincy Ching joined the Hong Kong team in May. Louisa Yau joined as managing director, Hong Kong market, based in Hong Kong, reporting to Andy Chai, head of Hong Kong Market, BNP Paribas Wealth Management. She joined from HSBC Private Bank. Before that she worked for UBS and Chase Manhattan Private Bank.

Wincy Ching started as senior vice president, Hong Kong Market, reporting to Yau. She was most recently with Morgan Stanley as vice president, covering UHNW clients in Hong Kong market. Prior to that she worked for UBS and Credit Suisse.

On the products and services front, BNP appointed Garth Bregman as as regional head of discretionary portfolio management for Asia, based in Singapore. He is currently head of discretionary portfolio management and head of investment advisory for wealth management in the UK, based in London. Prior to that he was head of discretionary portfolio management for wealth management in The Netherlands, based in Amsterdam.
