BNP Paribas Expands Southeast Wealth Teams, With Two Joiners From UBS

The Paris-listed bank has added to its Southeast Asia teams for markets such as Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.

BNP Paribas Wealth Management has made a number of Southeast Asia appointments – all newly-created roles - with several coming across from UBS, it said today.

Inge Kua assumes a new role of senior advisor to Stephanie Lair, who is head of Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia Markets, in addition to the former’s position as senior banker. Kua is a veteran of 23 years with the bank.

In her expanded role, Kua will develop the French bank’s focus on the ”mega wealth” client segment.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Ng has been named managing director, market leader for Indonesia, reporting to Lair. Ng leads the Indonesia market team and has more than 20 years of industry experience; he was recently an executive director and desk head for Indonesia ultra high net worth division at UBS.

Another former UBS manager who is joining BNP Paribas is Sharon Yee, working in Ng’s team as team head for Indonesia. She has 13 years of experience in wealth management and banking industry. She joins from UBS serving ultra high net worth clients in Indonesia and was actively involved in growing the focus with family office clients.

“The breadth of wealth management sector knowledge and insights of Inge and Jonathan acquired through decades of industry experience will strengthen our client service capability in South East Asian markets,” Lair said.

Mignonne Cheng, chairman and CEO of BNP Paribas Wealth Management Asia Pacific, added: “South East Asia is a market of strategic importance. We are pleased to on-board this group of new talents. This not only bolsters the high quality services we offer, but also reaffirms our commitment to building the business in this region.”
