BNP Paribas Cardif Names New Asia CEO

French-based BNP Paribas Cardif, an international insurance group and subsidiary of BNP Paribas, makes senior hire from within the business.

BNP Paribas Cardif has appointed Michael Nguyen as chief executive officer of Asia, effective immediately. 

Nguyen joined BNP Paribas Cardif in 2020 as chief information officer. Most recently, he was deputy chief executive officer and chief operating officer (COO), leading the efficiency, technology and operations department of BNP Paribas Cardif. 

Prior to that, Nguyen was group head of operations strategy and transformation for the SCOR Group in 2016, a global reinsurance company, where he led SCOR's operations strategy from planning to execution and oversaw the reinsurer's strategic projects portfolio. BNP Paribas now holds a minority stake in SCOR.

Nguyen started his career in corporate strategy and merger and acquisition in 2002 for the Airbus Group. From 2005 to 2016, he held various management positions for large global corporations, including Bouygues and AXA. He holds a master of science from Pierre and Marie Curie Paris University, a master in management from HEC and Mines ParisTech, and an MBA from INSEAD.

With a presence in 30 countries and strong positions in Europe, Asia and Latin America, BNP Paribas Cardif is a global specialist in personal insurance, creditor insurance and a contributor to financing for the real economy. With 9,000 employees worldwide, BNP Paribas Cardif had gross written premiums of €36.4 billion ($42 billion) in 2024.
