Asia's FWD Names New Chairman

The insurance arm of Pacific Century Group, the Asia-based private investment group, has made a senior appointment.

Pan-Asian insurer FWD Group has appointed Michael Gordon as chairman of its investment committee.

Previously, Gordon was part of Perpetual’s executive leadership team, where he was responsible for the investment business, with a team managing a portfolio of $22 billion for institutional and retail clients.

Gordon will oversee and advise on FWD's investment strategy, risks and policies, while monitoring and assessing investment performance. He replaces group chief executive Huynh Thanh Phong in the role. Based in Sydney, he will report to the group board.

“Michael brings more than 35 years of management experience in the financial services sector and we are delighted to have him on board,” said Huynh Thanh Phong, chief executive at FWD Group.

“Michael’s global experience and strong leadership track record in the investment space will help build the governance and strategic thinking to enable us to achieve our ambitious plans for the future.”

This publication has contacted FWD as to whether Gordon replaces a predecessor.

The group operates from Hong Kong and Macau, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
