Aberdeen Asset Management Renames Alternative Strategies Business

London-headquartered Aberdeen Asset Management has changed the name of its alternative investment strategies division to Aberdeen Solutions, which the firm said better reflects the component strategies within the business.
Aberdeen said the name change also emphasises the way it combines investment tools to address client needs, whether expressed as relative, absolute or real return, or a liability-driven outcome.
“In the wake of the financial crisis, there is significant interest from both institutional and retail investors in multi-asset or multi-manager solutions and outcome-orientated investment,” said Anne Richards, chief investment officer.
Aberdeen Solutions manages around €30 billion (about $40.2 billion) within a range of pooled fund and segregated mandates, including multi-asset, multi-manager, passive, fund of hedge funds, fund of private equity funds and pan-alternatives.
Earlier this month, the firm closed its emerging market funds to new investors inflows to protect performance for existing clients.
Sonja Tilly was also added to Aberdeen's multi-manager team as an analyst in January.
