ANZ Appoints Singapore-based Global Banking Business Head

ANZ strengthens its global banking business with the appointment of a new IIB head in Singapore.

Australia and New Zealand Bank has bolstered its global banking business with a senior appointment.

Sameer Sawhney, currently the managing director of global transaction banking, has been named head of global banking, international and institutional banking. In this Singapore-based role, he will be responsible for providing global clients with cross-border banking and capital markets services, as well as access to industry expertise to help grow their business. He reports to Andrew Geczy, chief executive for the IIB unit.

In the interim, Sawhney's previous role is assumed by Alan Huse, head of transaction banking sales for Australia and New Zealand, until a permanent replacement is named.

The announcement comes just shortly after ANZ announced that it has expanded its partnership with China Development Bank to support the growing number of foreign direct investments by Chinese into Australia.
