ANZ Adds Veteran Banker To Its Board

ANZ announces the addition of JT Macfarlane to its board to replace retiring member Peter Hay.
Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, one of the Australia's Big Four banks, has welcomed a veteran international banker to its board of directors.
John Macfarlane joins the ANZ board on 22 May 2014, following a decision by Peter Hay to retire. Macfarlane most recently served as chairman and chief executive of Deutsche Bank Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that, he was a member of the global banking executive committee and co-chair of the Asia-Pacific executive management committee. He also served as chief country officer of Deutsche Bank in Japan and CEO of Bankers Trust in New Zealand.
He will stand for election as a director at the firm's annual general meeting on December 2014.
ANZ has continued to grow its Asian business since the start of the year. In early March, the company was named to the first batch of banks to be granted licenses to trade on New Zealand dollars and the Renminbi on the China Foreign Exchange Trading System. It also recently announced the hire of Anindya Dutta from Credit Agricole to serve as global head - private bank and family offices.
