A Charity Evening To Empower Children With Play

A charity this publication is proud to partner with is Right To Play. It argues that play is transformational and helps children foster essential life skills like empathy and communication, helps improve numeracy and literacy, and empowers children to rise above adversity by building resilience.

Right To Play, a charity partner of this news service, has announced details of its annual Sports Quiz event, which will be held at the Nobu Hotel in Portman Square, central London, on 21 November.

The interactive event involves a night of sporting trivia, celebrity guests and competitive fun, with sports broadcaster John Inverdale acting as quizmaster, along with soon-to-be-confirmed sports legends.

The event will be used to raise funds to protect, educate, and empower children around the world. Founded in 2000, Right To Play uses play-based learning to help vulnerable children affected by war, disease, climate change, violence, poverty, inequality, prejudice, and exploitation. Working in 14 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, Right To Play’s mission is to protect, educate, and empower children to rise above adversity using the power of play. (See this interview here for more details about the organisation.)

Last year, Right To Play reached over 5.6 million children across the world – 49 per cent of whom were girls. The organization provided children with skills and the confidence they need to overcome challenges, fulfil their potential, and create better futures for themselves and their communities. The 2023 charity night in London raised nearly £260,000 ($336,026).

This year, the first UN International Day of Play was celebrated across the globe, following campaigning by Right To Play and partners, marking an important milestone in the recognition of the importance of play.
