Barclays Wealth Hires Former DB Private Client Chief

Barclays
Wealth
has hired Michael Burke, former head of Deutsche Bank Alex Brown the US
Private Client Services division of Deutsche Bank, as regional manager of its
Washington, DC office.

In
this newly-created post, Burke will manage all aspects of the DC office, which
opened in mid-2009, and grow Barclays Wealth’s business in the DC metro area
and mid-Atlantic region. He reports to Steve Houston, head of Wealth
Management, who oversees the branch manager and investment representative
network in the Americas.

“The
DC-metro area is one of the fastest growing in terms of the high net worth
investors,” said Houston.

At Deutsche
Bank Alex Brown, Burke oversaw 300 advisors in 16 offices. Burke left in early 2009
and became heavily involved with United Cerebral Palsy and served as assistant
treasurer. He remains on the national board of trustees.

Prior
to Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, he worked at Morgan Stanley for 17 years in
several senior sales roles including director of national sales and regional director
for the Southern US.
