AMP Capital Investors has named Sonia Baillie to head its fixed income team after its incumbent head Andrew Lally was appointed to lead the Australian equities division.

Baillie joins the company from Nomura, where she was the head of credit desk analysts. Prior to that, she held key roles at UBS Global Asset Management, Colonial First State Investments and Westpac.

In her new capacity, which takes effect on 5 October, Baillie will be heading a team of eight credit analysts responsible for security selection across the firm's $30 billion fixed income unit. She will report directly to Jeff Brunton, the head of credit markets.

Along with her appointment, AMP also expanded the fixed income unit with the creation of two new roles. Joyce Yu, a graduate of the AMP Capital Graduate Program, and Tim Jarvis, a member of the company's Asian real estate securities unit, are now analysts at the credit research and analysis team, while Steven Hur and Veronica Raic will become credit analysts. Hur joins the firm from Schroders, while Raic, who joined the team in May, previously was a market analysis manager at Westpac.

The company said it is still looking to fill additional roles for the credit research team.
