chairman Paul Achleitner is considering replacing chief executive John Cryan with Juerg Zeltner, the former head of UBS Wealth Management, according to media reports.

In a staff memo last Wednesday, Cryan said he was “absolutely committed” to the bank, according to Reuters.

But without citing sources, Germany’s Spiegel magazine reported that Achleitner had already held talks with Zeltner, who left UBS last December after more than 30 years with the world’s largest wealth manager.

A spokesperson for the bank declined to comment.
