New York-listed Blue Owl Capital has hired Johann Santer as a managing director and head of Asia-Pacific private wealth. He is based in Hong Kong, reporting to Sean Connor, president and chief executive of the firm’s global private wealth business.

Most recently, Santer served as Fidelity International's regional lead for wholesale business alongside his position as head of private banking, wealth and strategic clients. Prior to Fidelity, he was managing director and head of investment specialists, Hong Kong funds, at Julius Baer. Santer also spent 10 years at a quantitative hedge fund overseeing global fund distribution.

"Johann's appointment builds upon Blue Owl's existing private wealth business in Asia, reinforcing our commitment to delivering products and solutions tailored to addressing the specific needs of the APAC market,” Connor said.

Blue Owl Capital, which set up its APAC wealth presence in 2021, partners with wealth platforms in the region across its three investment platforms: Credit, GP Strategic Capital, and Real Estate. It has more than $174 billion in assets under management as of 31 March 2024.
