Eastspring Investments, Prudential’s asset management business, names new CEO, who will be replacing Bill Maldonado.
Prudential has appointed Rajeev Mittal (pictured) as chief executive officer of Eastspring Investments, effective 1 July 2025.
Based in Singapore, Mittal – who will report to Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani – will join the Prudential Group executive committee, the firm said in a statement. Mittal's appointment follows Bill Maldonado's decision to retire and return to the UK, where his family has been living for the past four years.
Mittal will continue to be an advisor to the business until the end of September to ensure continuity and a smooth transition; he will also continue to serve as a board member of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company.
Mittal, who has more than 30 years of asset management experience in Asia and Europe, most recently, served as managing director and head of Asia at Fidelity International, where he spearheaded the growth in the Asia Pacific and Middle East (excluding Japan) markets. Prior to Fidelity, he spent 26 years at AIG and PineBridge Investments, initially as an investor before serving as CEO of PineBridge Europe and later CEO of PineBridge Asia Pacific.
“Firstly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bill for his impactful contribution to Prudential,” Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani, said. “He drove the growth of our Eastspring business, strengthened the leadership team, and clearly defining priorities shaping the future of Eastspring. Bill has been a role model and a valued leader at Prudential, and we wish him the very best in his retirement.”
"As we look to the future, I am delighted to welcome Rajeev to Prudential, whose deep expertise in the Asian markets, combined with a proven track record in managing and developing asset management businesses and client relationships, position him exceptionally well to drive the continued growth and success of Eastspring,” Wadhwani added.
