UBS Hires Former UN Executive Director To Drive Its Impact Initiatives

The new recruit will be a key spokesperson for the firm's global impact investing initiatives.

UBS Wealth Management has recruited James Gifford, the former founding executive director of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment, as its senior impact investing strategist, a new role for UBS.

As founding executive director of the UNPRI, Gifford led the organisation from its inception in 2003 until 2013.

Prior to joining UBS, Gifford was a senior fellow at Harvard University's initiative for responsible investment, where he established its "Impact investing for the next generation" programme. He was also director of impact at TAU Investment Management.

Based in Hong Kong, Gifford will drive UBS WM’s impact investing initiatives globally, reporting to Andrew Lee, UBS WM’s head of impact investing and private markets.
